Archive.org Supported

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009 by Max

Archive.org (aka Internet Archive) videos are now supported by Overstream. There are more technical details regarding this in our forum.

The Internet Archive is a an Internet Library of free videos, text, audios and other digital data. As they put it themselves:

The Internet Archive is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded to build an Internet library, with the purpose of offering permanent access for researchers, historians, and scholars to historical collections that exist in digital format.

And now hopefully the video portion of it will (with your help!) be available with subtitles, further broadening the usefulness of the Internet Archive-provided data to users from all over the world.

Released another small site update, with Overstream Editor 0.62a and (ta-dah!) Blip.tv support. I know some of you have been asking for Blip.tv support, so now here it is.

Blip.tv replaces Megavideo in the list of Overstream-supported providers, since Megavideo hasn’t been working lately.

I must say - my hat is off to the Blip.tv guys, as this was by far the least painless integration that I have done. Awesome job, guys!!!

Site Update

We’ve released a small site update recently. Its main attraction is that Overstream Editor v0.62 has been released, which now allows you to rename your overstreams. This feature, left out of the Overstream Editor originally (for reasons which no longer make any sense :)) has been long coming.

In other news, we have recently hit two landmarks: 20,000 registered users, and 20,000 overstreams in total. Looking from a year ago, I certainly could not have predicted such growth,  and can’t help but be amazed every day that so many people continue to find overstream.net useful. Thank you, guys (and girls)!
